1. Military serving and re-employed personnel

In this category fall all military people currently in the Army, Navy, or Air Force; they also include those who have been employed by the government after retirement from service. The serving personnel help secure the country's interests. AFWHO must take precedence over their need for housing.

Serving Personnel: All the serving members of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force can apply for houses under AFWHO schemes.

Re-employed Personnel: Retired people re-employed in the Armed Forces or other Govt. offices are also eligible to get these schemes.

2.Retired Armed Forces Officials

The retired personnel, who have honorably served in the Indian Armed Forces, either in the Army, Navy, or Air Force, are eligible to apply for AFWHO housing schemes. They, after years of service to the nation, deserve to be housed affordably and of quality.

Eligibility Criteria: Individuals who completed their tenure of service, and it encompasses all the branches of the Armed Forces

Retirement Benefits: Defense personnel retiring after serving for several years get an opportunity to take suitable housing for themselves and their family at reasonable rates.

3.Widow of Armed Forces Official Deceased

The spouse of an Armed Forces official who has died due to service or after retirement is eligible     to apply for the housing schemes. It is one category that ensures the families of fallen heroes are supported and offered a secure place to live.

Eligibility: The deceased Armed Forces official should have been a part of the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force.

4.Blood Relations/Dependents of Armed Forces Personnel

The eligibility criteria also extend to the blood relations and dependents of Armed Forces personnel. These categories include:

Parents: The biological or legally adopted parents of the serving or retired Armed Forces officer.

Spouse: The spouse of the serving or retired Armed Forces official.

Children: The biological or legally adopted children of the serving or retired Armed Forces official, including stepchildren and legally adopted children.

Grandchildren: The grandchildren of the serving or retired Armed Forces official in case they depend on the officer.

Siblings: Biological brothers and sisters together with their spouses.

This category ensures that the dependents and immediate family members of the Armed Forces officials are also eligible to apply for housing under the AFWHO schemes, thereby gifting them a secure future.

5.Para-Military Forces and Police Personnel

AFWHO also extends its housing schemes to paramilitary and police forces, thereby ensuring that personnel from these organizations also, who contribute a great deal to national security, may benefit from affordable housing options.

Para-Military Forces: These include personnel serving in forces such as the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and other central and state paramilitary forces.

Police Forces: Serving personnel in various state and central police forces are also eligible for housing under AFWHO's schemes.

This considers that the paramilitary and police forces play a significant role in ensuring internal security and peace and, therefore, AFWHO also respects their service by providing them the same housing benefits that the Armed Forces personnel are entitled to.

6.Central/State Government Employees and PSUs (Serving & Retired)

Apart from defense personnel, AFWHO has housing schemes for serving and retired employees of Central Government, State Government, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

Housing schemes are available for: Government employees: Present Central and State government or PSU employees, who are in possession of the requisite eligibility criteria, may apply for the housing schemes with AFWHO.

Retired Employees of Government: Similarly, retired government employees from Central/State Government and PSU are also entitled to apply.

This is part of the provision to identify government servants from either defense, administrative, and other departments, which forms a contribution to the public service and welfare of the country.
